Upstate Falls At ETSU, 5-2

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - The No. 73 USC Upstate women's tennis team fell at ETSU, 5-2, on Friday afternoon at the Buddy Hartsell Tennis Center in Atlantic Sun Conference action.

The Spartans are now 10-2 overall and 4-1 in the A-Sun. The Lady Bucs are 9-3 overall and 5-0 in the A-Sun.

The Bucs were able to pull the match out with a pair of three-set wins at the No. 1 and the No. 3 slots.

The Spartans and Bucs split the first two doubles matches, with freshman Simona Cacciuttolo and junior Emilia Milovanovic posting an 8-3 win over Paula Jamie and Karina Kedzo at No. 2, but an ETSU win at No. 3 gave the Bucs the point.

The Bucs took wins at No. 2 and No. 6 to take a 3-0 lead, but the Spartans fought back with a pair of wins, as No. 12 Cacciuttolo posted a 7-5, 6-4 win over Kedzo at No. 4 and Cinthya Lazaro added a 7-6, 6-2 win over Diana Navrostska at No. 5, setting up the Bucs final two points to seal the match.

Upstate will be back on the court on Friday when it heads to A-Sun foe UNF for a 2 p.m. match, beginning a weekend in Jacksonville, Fla. Jacksonville will play the Spartans on Saturday.
