Net Issues Send Spartans Home

ORANGEBURG, S.C. – Issues with the volleyball net at South Carolina State's Duke's Gym in the S-H-M Memorial Center issued a no-contest between the Spartans and the Bulldogs as USC Upstate turned around and headed back home to Spartanburg.

It came down to a safety issue with the athletes in mind. The net was not at regulation height and therefore not playable which could have put players in a bad position to get hurt.

There has not yet been a re-schedule of the S.C. State game, but check back at upstatespartans.com for updates.

Upstate will travel to Boone, N.C. this weekend for a trio of contests at the Appalachian Invitational. On Friday the Spartans will face off against the Crusaders of Valparaiso (3-1) at 4:30 p.m. before taking on the Mountaineers of Appalachian State (4-0) and the Colonels of Eastern Kentucky (1-2) on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., respectively.
