CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – USC Upstate men's tennis player Ramiro Blanco, seeded 12th in the singles main draw, fell in the Round of 16 Sunday at the ITA Regional at the University of North Carolina's Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.
Blanco fell to Duke's Chris Mengal in straight sets, 4-6, 3-6. Mengel was seeded third-overall in the singles main draw.
Sunday's loss by Blanco marks the end of the fall season for the men's tennis team. The Spartans will return to action on January 26, 2012, when they travel to Boiling Springs, N.C., to face the Gardner-Webb Runnin' Bulldogs.
