Upstate's Fall Season Comes to Close at ITA Regional

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The USC Upstate women's tennis team wrapped up their fall season Friday at the ITA Regional Championships at the University of North Carolina's Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.

In singles action, Isabel von Stryk fell to South Carolina's Jaklin Alawi.  Von Stryk fell to Alawi (seeded No. 4) in straight sets, 2-6, 1-6.

The Spartan duo of von Stryk and Talia Rojas advanced to the round of 32 with an 8-3 victory over Gabi Celi and Jessica Thaggard (Appalachian State).  In the next round, von Stryk/Rojas fell to Yvonne Hubler/Alexandra Walters of Charleston Southern by a score of 4-8.

The Spartans will return to action Saturday, January 28, 2012 when they host Presbyterian College in the home opener at 11 a.m.
