Spartan Rookies Advance to Quarterfinals at Elon Fall Invitational

ELON, N.C. – Isabel von Stryk and Hannah Al-Sakati of the USC Upstate women's tennis team advanced to tomorrow's quarterfinal round at the Elon Fall Invtiational.

In A-1 Singles, von Stryk defeated Olesya Palko (North Carolina Central) in three sets (6-2, 3-6, 6-2).  With the victory, the Spartan freshman will face Elon's Bryn Khory tomorrow at 10:15 a.m.

In A-3 Singles, Al-Sakati claimed a straight sets victory over Jenna Dodge of UNC Asheville, 6-2, 6-1.  She will return to action tomorrow against Campbell's Anais Gomar.

In A-1 Doubles, the Spartan duo of von Stryk and Talia Rojas advanced to the semifinals with an 8-6 victory over Devon Cavanaugh and Emily McNall of UNC Asheville.  In A-2 doubles, Al-Sakati and Julie Bell advanced with a 9-7 victory over Wofford's Sarah Evans and Othilia Lindqvist.
