ELON, N.C. – Ramiro Blanco and Gonzalo Blanco advanced to their respective singles championship match as the USC Upstate men's tennis team wrapped up day two of the Elon Fall Invitational.
Ramiro Blanco advanced to the final of Singles A-1 with two victories Saturday. After dropping the first set by a score of 6-7 (11), Blanco rallied past Elon's Cameron Silverman by claiming set two (6-4) and set three (6-2).
Blanco reached the finals after winning via walkover over Duke's Torsten Wietsoka. Wiestoka entered the weekend seeded No. 1 in A-1 singles.
Gonzalo Blanco advanced to the finals in B-1 singles after a pair of straight set victories. In the quarterfinals, Blanco defeated Conner Sherwoood of Wake Forest, 6-3, 6-1. The sophomore moved one step closer to the title with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Campbell's Adrien Rossignon.
In B-2 Doubles, Yvon Haessig and Pierre Vernin advanced to the final round and will face the duo of Paul Nahon and Dylan Trent of Richmond tomorrow at 9:45 a.m.
