SPARTANBURG, S.C. – After dropping the doubles point, the Spartans rallied to tie the match at 3-3 but Jesus Bandres held off Ramiro Blanco and ETSU claimed the 4-3 win on Saturday afternoon at the USC Upstate Tennis Complex.
ETSU (4-4, 1-0) claimed victories at singles number five and six and needed just one more singles victory to claim the match.
Edgar Rodriguez, Gonzalo Blanco and Matias Di Pasquale all won their singles match and set the stage for a trilling finish.
After falling in the first set, 5-7, Ramiro Blanco claimed set two by a score of 6-2. Blanco took an early led in the decisive set, but Jesus Bandres fought back and took the set 7-5 and the Bucs claimed the 4-3 victory.
Upstate (3-9, 0-1) will return to action tomorrow when they host Texas-Pan American at 11:00 a.m.
