SPARTANBURG, S.C. – A day after falling in its conference opener the USC Upstate men's tennis team up-ended Texas-Pan American, 4-3, on Sunday at the Upstate Tennis Complex.

The Spartans were able to pick up the win as they won four of the six singles matches after losing the doubles point.

At singles number two, Ramiro Blanco won in straight sets, 6-3, 6-0, over Beau Bernstien.  The Spartans also picked up three other straight set victories on the day.

Gonzalo Blanco claimed victory at singles number three as he downed Marcus Dornauf by scores of 6-3, 6-2.  Matias Di Pasquale also won 6-3, 6-2 as he defeated Matt Teivans at singles number four.

The Spartans final singles victory of the day came at singles number five.  Marco Linconir claimed a straight sets victory (6-2, 6-1) over Ricardo Hopker, giving the Spartans the 4-3 victory over the Broncos.

With the win the Spartans improve to 4-9 on the season and will return to action on Thursday afternoon when they battle Stetson in DeLand, Fla.
