FORT MYERS, Fla. – After falling to ETSU, 4-3, in the conference opener last Saturday, the Spartans have won three straight matches after defeating Florida Gulf Coast, 5-2, on Saturday afternoon.
USC Upstate (6-9, 2-1 A-Sun) picked up the doubles point as it swept all three doubles matches.
In singles action, the Spartans picked up four wins to claim the 5-2 win. At singles number one, Ramiro Blanco downed Matt Rock, 7-6, 1-6, 6-3. Meanwhile at singles number two, Blanco number two, Gonzalo, claimed a straight sets win over Gabriel Echeverry, 6-1, 7-6 (4).
Mattias Di Pasquale won at singles number three, 6-0, 6-1, over Steve Binniger to give Upstate the win.
The Spartans will return to action on Friday afternoon when they host North Florida.
