Men's Tennis Wraps-up Day One of Upstate Fall Classic

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – On Friday five different USC Upstate men's tennis players advanced to the quarterfinal round in the Upstate Fall Classic.

Edgar Rodriguez and Ramiro Blanco each earned first round byes and cruised to the quarterfinals with straight set victories.  Rodriguez defeated Presbyterian College's Edward Snead, 6-1, 6-1, while Blanco downed Nathan Berlyn of USC Aiken, 6-1, 6-1.

Gonzalo Blanco claimed a 7-5, 6-0 victory over PC's Zachary Sprouse before winning in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1, over Aiken's Bruno Orlandini.  Upstate newcomers Pierre Vernin and Yvon Haessig also earned a spot in the quarterfinal round.  Vernin will face teammate Ramiro Blanco at 9 a.m. Saturday.

Gonzalo Blanco and Vernin were the only doubles team to play Friday and the duo claimed an 8-3 victory over The Citadel's duo of Cook/Bleach.
