NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The USC Upstate volleyball team (10-15, 5-8 A-Sun) fell to Atlantic Sun Conference foe Lipscomb (14-10, 11-2 A-Sun) 3-0 on the road Saturday by scores of 25-20, 25-18 and 25-14.
The Spartans were led by senior Emily Bingham (St. Petersburg, Fla.) with seven kills, while freshman Lexi Gober (Edwardsville, Ill.) handed out 26 assists to go along with seven digs. Freshman Kayla Eversgerd (Breese, Ill.), sophomore Kayla McAvoy (Boiling Springs, S.C.) and freshman Shannon Weiss (Highland, Ill.) all recorded six kills each for Upstate. Freshman Jaina Jackson (Huntley, Ill.) added five kills, while Gober posted two.
Upstate senior Emily Sanders (Sullivan, Ill.) collected a match-high 15 digs, while Eversgerd was second on the squad with eight digs. Weiss contributed five digs on the day, while Jackson had three. McAvoy and Bingham each recorded two assisted blocks.
Lipscomb was led by two hitters with double-digit kills as Kaycee Green paced the squad with a match-high 15 kills, while Jewell Dobson tallied 10 kills. Molly Spitznagle and Lauren Ford helped with nine and eight kills, respectively.
Caitlin Dotson posted a double-double for the Bison, dishing out a match-high 40 assists and scooping up 12 digs. Stephanie Rex led the LU defense gathering a match-high 15 digs. Ford helped with eight digs, while four other Bisons added four digs each. Spitznagle led the team defensively at the net, recording three blocks.
