Spartans Fall to Terriers Thursday Afternoon

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The USC Upstate women's team dropped a 5-2 decision to Wofford Thursday at the Reeves Tennis Center.

In singles action, Upstate's (2-2) Isabel von Stryk and Maria Tonani picked up victories over their opponents from Wofford (2-1).  At singles No. 1, von Stryk claimed a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Sarah Evans.

At singles No. 5, Tonani rallied past Othilia Lindqvist in a three-set thriller.  Tonani dropped the first set, 6-7, but evened the match after a 7-5 win in set number two.  In the decisive third set, Tonani claimed the win with a 10-5 victory in the tiebreaker set.

Wofford claimed the other four singles matches and won all three doubles matches en route to the 5-2 victory. 

Upstate will return to action Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. when it welcomes South Carolina State to the Upstate Tennis Complex.
