SPARTANBURG, S.C. – After dropping the doubles point, the USC Upstate men's tennis team claimed all six singles matches to pick up its first conference win of the season with a 6-1 decision over Florida Gulf Coast Friday morning.
FGCU earned the doubles point after claiming wins at doubles No. 2 and 3.
Matthias Kidler tied the match at 1-1 with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Jackson Moore at singles No. 2. Teammate Ramiro Blanco gave the Spartans the lead with a 6-1, 6-4 win at singles No. 1.
Gonzalo Blanco was victorious at singles No. 3 while Pierre Vernin won at singles No. 4 to clinch the match for Upstate.
Yvon Haessig and Tyler Grove were also victorious as Upstate claimed the 6-1 win.
The Spartans will return to action tomorrow at 10 a.m. when they face the Stetson Hatters.
