NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The USC Upstate women's tennis team picked up their first Atlantic Sun road contest of the season with a 7-0 victory at Belmont Friday at the Centennial Sportsplex.
Upstate swept all three doubles matches Friday to take an early 1-0 advantage.
The Spartans won their first four singles matches in straight sets to put the contest away. At singles No. 1 Isabel von Stryk defeated Fabiana Mersan, 6-4, 6-1, while Julie Bell claimed a 6-4, 6-2, over Nikki Maciel at singles No. 2.
Talia Rojas (singles No. 3) and Hannah Al-Sakati (singles No. 4) also picked up straight-set victories.
Both Ana-Sofia Camberos (singles No. 5) and Maria Tonani (singles No. 6) dropped their first set before rallying for three-set wins.
The Spartans will return to action tomorrow as they close out the Nashville swing at Lipscomb.
