THIBODAUX, La. – After dropping the doubles point Tuesday, the USC Upstate women's tennis team rallied for a 4-3 victory over the Colonels of Nicholls State Tuesday.
Nicholls State claimed the doubles point after taking two out of three matches.
In singles action, the Spartans claimed four of six matches to earn their first win of the season when losing the doubles point.
Julie Bell earned a straight-set victory at singles No. 2 as she claimed a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Andrea Pont Grau. Meanwhile, Hannah Al-Sakati rallied for a 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 victory at singles No. 3 as she defeated Catherine Gauthier.
Ana-Sofia Camberos claimed a 7-5, 6-3 win at singles No. 5, while Maria Tonani earned her second straight win with a 7-5, 6-7, 7-6 victory at singles No. 6.
Upstate will return to action Saturday when it host Maryland-Baltimore County.
