Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate volleyball team returns to the Hodge Center this weekend for two Atlantic Sun matchups with the Northern Kentucky Norse and Lipscomb Lady Bisons.
The Spartans kick off the weekend Friday night at 7 p.m. against Northern Kentucky before concluding Saturday afternoon against Lipscomb at 3 p.m.
Upstate dropped both of its contests on the road last weekend to Stetson and Florida Gulf Coast. The Spartans finish up their regular season with four consecutive home matches beginning this weekend.
Kayla Eversgerd leads the Spartans this season with 322 kills and is second with 290 digs. Lexi Gober has a team-best 794 assists, 25 service aces and .270 hitting percentage. Emily Koelling is first on the team with 46 total blocks and second with 225 kills. Morgan Page posts a team-high 298 digs. Eversgerd is fifth in the conference in kills, Gober ranks eighth in assists and Page is fourth in digs per set with 4.20.
Northern Kentucky comes in with a 10-17 record overall and is 5-9 in the league. The Norse are led by third-year head coach Liz Hart. NKU leads the all-time series over Upstate, which began last season, 3-0. Northern Kentucky won the first meeting this season in Highland Heights, Ky. 3-2.
Lipscomb is currently 18-6 on the season and 12-2 against conference opponents. The Lady Bisons are under the direction of 11th-year head coach Brandon Rosenthal. Lipscomb leads the all-time series against the Spartans 10-0. The Lady Bisons defeated Upstate 3-0 in Nashville earlier this season.
