Box Score Bloomington, Ind. – Brittany Clency and Maddie Herr finished with seven points each on Sunday afternoon as USC Upstate dropped an 87-38 decision to the Indiana Hoosiers in non-conference action at Assembly Hall.
The Spartans fall to 3-5 on the season while the Hoosiers improve to 7-0.
Clency went 3-of-5 from the floor for Upstate while Herr made 7-of-9 attempts at the free-throw line. Toni Romiti added six points off the bench. Brittany Starling led the Spartans with seven rebounds, and Sharmayne Edwards and Valese McAllister contributed five each.
Upstate went 11-of-55 from the floor for a 20.0% clip and was 2-of-18 (11.1%) behind the three-point line. The Spartans made 13 of their 14 free-throw attempts in the second half. Upstate was 14-of-23 (60.9%) overall at the charity stripe.
Indiana posted on 47.0% shooting percentage on 31-of-66 attempts. The Hoosiers also went 10-of-29 (34.5%) behind the three-point arc to go with a 71.4% (15-of-21) mark at the free-throw line.
Taylor Agler led all scorers for Indiana with a game-high 16 points on 5-of-5 shooting from the floor. Agler was joined in double-figures by Larryn Brooks with 14 points, Kaila Hulls with 12, and 10 each from Sasha Chaplin and Alexis Gassion.
The Spartans return to action on Saturday, Dec. 7 when they head to Asheville, N.C. to face the UNC Asheville Bulldogs at 2 p.m.
