Eugene, Ore. – The USC Upstate women's tennis team suffered a 7-0 defeat at No. 71 Oregon Friday afternoon from the Student Tennis Center.
Oregon won the doubles point to take a 1-0 lead following victories at the No. 3 and No. 2 positions.
Nicole Long put Oregon ahead 2-0 when she posted a 6-1, 6-1 win over Taylor Cohen from the No. 1 singles position. Rabea Stueckeman upped the Oregon lead to 3-0 following her 6-2, 6-0 victory over Sarah Vander Berg at No. 6.
Lana Buttner clinched the victory for the Ducks from the No. 4 position with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Ana Baran.
Upstate returns to action Saturday at 12 p.m. EST when the Spartans take on Portland from the Student Tennis Center. Upstate caps its competition in the round robin tournament hours later at 5 p.m. against Eastern Washington.
