Highland Heights, Ky. – The USC Upstate women's tennis rallied back from a 3-1 deficit to win the final three points on its way to a 4-3 victory over Northern Kentucky Saturday afternoon from the Yeager Tennis Complex.
Northern Kentucky won the doubles point to go out ahead 1-0 following victories from the No. 1 and 3 positions.
Sierra Nellessen put the Norse ahead 2-0 when she defeated Lindsey Buenger 6-3, 6-1 from the No. 6 singles position. Upstate senior Talia Rojas started the comeback with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Nicole Soutar from the No. 4 position.
Yasmine Xantos gave Northern Kentucky a 3-1 lead following her 7-5, 6-1 victory over Sarah Vande Berg at No. 5. Taylor Cohen kept Upstate alive when she bested Marta Romeo 6-2, 6-2 from the No. 3 position.
Freshman Anna Zoske tied the match 3-3 with a 6-4, 7-6 win over Danielle Donahue at No. 2, while Isabel von Stryk completed the comeback after she downed Maria Voscekova 3-6, 6-2, 7-6 from the No. 1 position.
Upstate looks to make it two in a row when the Spartans return to the court March 29 at 10 a.m. at North Florida.
