Presbyterian Rallies for Victory over Upstate

Clinton, S.C. – Presbyterian overcame a 3-1 deficit to win the final three singles matches and claim a 4-3 victory over the USC Upstate women's tennis team Thursday from the Templeton Tennis Courts.

Presbyterian won the first doubles match of the day when Brittany Nuttall and C.M. Andrews defeated Anna Zoske and Nina Roell 8-1 from the No. 2 position. Isabel von Stryk and Nona Ruppert took the second match when they downed Greer Ransom and Demi Henschel 8-3 at No. 1. Caroline deLo and Sara McBride clinched the point for the Blue Hose at No. 3 after winning by default.

Von Stryk pulled Upstate even when she turned in a 6-1, 6-0 singles victory over Ransom at No. 1. Roell put the Spartans ahead 2-1 with a 6-1, 6-2 defeat of Andrews at No. 4 before Ruppert posted a 6-2, 6-1 win over Nuttall at No. 2.

Henschel cut the deficit to one point after her 6-2, 6-2 win over Zoske at No. 3, and deLoach pulled Presbyterian even following a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Sharlee Deshmukh at No. 5. Sara McBride completed the comeback when she posted a win by default at No. 6.

Upstate returns to action Saturday at 1 p.m. when the Spartans host UNC Greensboro in the home opener from the Upstate Tennis Complex.
