Fresno State Downs Upstate in Non-Conference Play

New Orleans, La. – Fresno State won two doubles matches and six singles matches en route to a 7-0 victory over the USC Upstate men's tennis team Saturday from Tulane's Pepsi Center.

Fresno State opened play by winning the first doubles match of the afternoon when Adam Glynn and Euan McIntosh defeated Ramon Simonetti and Rajanvir Dharni 6-3 at No. 1. Upstate freshmen Matt Bennion and Ignacio Garrido picked up a win for the Spartans with a 6-4 victory over Eric Komati and Alexandros Vakouftsis at No. 3.

Sai Kartik Nakireddi and Nikolas Papic captured the third match and clinched the point after defeating Viktor Selander and Jamie Yates 6-4 at No. 2.

Glynn put Fresno State ahead 2-0 with his 6-1, 6-0 singles win over Selander at No. 2, and Vakouftsis gave the Bulldogs a 3-0 advantage following his 6-4, 6-3 victory over Felix Ewers at No. 6.

Youssef Hassan sealed the win for Fresno State when he downed Dharni 7-6, 6-4 from the No. 4 position.

Upstate continues its road trip Sunday at 2 p.m. when the Spartans face Tulane from the Pepsi Center.
