Spartanburg, S.C. – Mamadou Guirassy's goal in the 40th minute gave the NJIT Highlanders a 1-0 victory over the USC Upstate men's soccer team Saturday afternoon in ASUN action at County University Soccer Stadium.
Upstate falls to 3-8 on the season and 1-3 in conference play, while NJIT improves to 6-4-3 overall and 3-1 in the league.
STATS OF THE MATCH
- The Highlanders held a 15-13 advantage over the Spartans in shots with 11 of their attempts coming in the second half. Upstate led 6-4 in shots during the first half.
- Tim Lück led the Spartans offensively with a career-high four shots while Cam Philpot had two attempts on-goal.
- Guirassy had a team-high four shots for NJIT and Rickardo Oldham finished with three attempts on-net.

NJIT GOALS
- Oldham lofted a pass over the Spartan defense on their side of the field to Guirassy, who beat an Upstate defender and was left with a one-on-one opportunity against Restrepo. Guirassy scored into the right side of the net to give NJIT the lead during the 40th minute. (USC Upstate 0, NJIT 1)
