Spartanburg, S.C. - The USC Upstate women's tennis team lost its home opener to Campbell, 5-2, on Friday at the USC Upstate Tennis Complex.

Campbell improves to 4-1 while the Spartans drop to 0-5.

Campbell won the doubles point thanks to wins at the number one and number three doubles courts. Anna Zoske and Ruby Kubac were ahead 5-4 at number two doubles when Camels claimed the point and their match was halted.

Zoske earned a hard-fought victory at number one singles with a 2-6, 7-6 (5-0), 10-6 triumph over Iri Karangozishvili. Carol Sigaki defeated Ana Maria Ortiz 6-2, 6-2 at number three singles.

Upstate will face Missouri on Sunday at 5 p.m. on the indoor courts at Furman's Mickel Tennis Center.
