Presbyterian College Defeats Upstate 4-2

The Presbyterian College men's tennis team claimed four of five completed singles matches as the Blue Hose rallied for a 4-2 victory over USC Upstate on Thursday afternoon at the Templeton Tennis Courts.

Upstate drops to 2-5 on the season while Presbyterian College improves to 3-9 overall.

The Spartans jumped out to a 1-0 lead in doubles play by winning the match at the number one position. Jamie Yates and Matt Bennion claimed a 6-4 victory over Will Baird and Ben Kelley on the number three court. Ramon Simonetti and Ankush Arora knocked off Alejandro Bejar and Brandon Mills 7-6 at the top doubles position to clinch the doubles point for Upstate. 

Presbyterian College tied the match at 1-1 with a 6-2, 6-2 win at number five singles. Lenhard Haupt was a 6-4, 6-1 winner at the number one singles position before the Blue Hose won at the six, two and four positions to clinch the match. 

Upstate continues its six-match road trip on Saturday morning, traveling to Charlotte for an 11 a.m. contest.
