Upstate Edged on the Road at Charlotte 4-3

Charlotte, N.C. – The Charlotte 49ers won four of six singles matches Saturday afternoon as it defeated the USC Upstate men's tennis team 4-3 at the Halton-Wagner Tennis Complex.

Upstate drops to 2-6 on the season while Charlotte improves to 2-1 overall.

The Spartans captured the doubles point after winning the top two matches. Ramon Simonetti and Ankush Arora defeated Vikram Hundal and Jordi Massalle Ferrer 6-4 at the number one position. In the number two match, Ignacio Garrido and Lenhard Haupt defeated Josh Aubry and Carl Solik also by a 6-4 margin.

Garrido would go on to win his second match of the afternoon at number five singles as he earned a 6-0, 6-4 victory over Oriol Puig. Jamie Yates worked past Sam Rice in three sets, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 in the number four match. Three of Upstate's losses in singles play came in three-set matches.

The Spartans return to action on Wednesday, Mar. 2 as they travel to Furman for a 3 p.m. match.
