Women's Tennis Drops Heartbreaker at UNCG

– The USC Upstate women's tennis team fell just short of scoring their first win of the 2016 season on Saturday, dropping a 4-3 decision to UNCG.

UNCG improves to 4-4 while Upstate drops to 0-7.

Anna Zoske and Carol Sigaki each won two matches. Zoske and Filippa Ericson defeated Soumeya Anane and Amy Ellis 7-5 at the number one doubles position. Zoske would then claim the number one singles match with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Amy Ellis.

Sigaki and Vale Zarama defeated Sarah Swiderski and Blaine Boaz 6-4 at number two doubles to give Upstate the doubles point. Sigaki was a 7-6, 6-3 winner over Masey DeMoss at number three singles.

Upstate will travel to Wofford on Wednesday for a 3 p.m. match.
