Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate men's tennis team dropped a home decision in conference play Thursday afternoon to the Stetson Hatters by a 4-3 score from the USC Upstate Tennis Complex.
 Upstate falls to 5-10 overall and 1-1 in the A-Sun, while Stetson improves to 8-8 on the season and 1-0 in league play.
 The Hatters opened the match by winning the doubles point, going ahead of the Spartans 1-0, after capturing the number two and three matches. Upstate picked up a win in doubles play as Ramon Simonetti and Ignacio Garrido defeated Coilin MacNamara and Simon Julin 6-4 in the number one match.
 Stetson went ahead 3-0 over Upstate to start singles competition following wins at the number four and six positions. Garrido and Ankush Arora trimmed the Spartans deficit down to 3-2 as the duo both picked up wins at number five and two. Garrido, playing in the number five spot, dropped the first set to Julin but rallied back to win in three sets 3-6, 6-0, 6-2. In the number two singles match, Arora also defeated Laurynas Antropikas in three sets 3-6, 6-4, 7-5.
 Loic Blanco secured the match victory for the Hatters after winning his number one match in three sets over Ramon Simonetti 4-6, 6-4, 7-5.
 Jamie Yates recorded his second consecutive singles victory in the number three match as he was leading Pierre Fossier 1-0 in the third set when Fossier retired. Yates fell in the first set 6-7 but rebounded with a 7-6 win of his own in the second set.
 Upstate remains at home Saturday afternoon as it hosts Georgia Southern in non-conference action at 12 p.m.
