Clinton, S.C. - The Presbyterian Blue Hose claimed four of six singles matches to defeat the USC Upstate women's tennis team 4-3 at the Templeton Tennis Courts on Tuesday afternoon.

Presbyterian College improves to 4-2 while Upstate drops to 0-5.

The Spartans claimed the doubles point thanks to wins on the No. 1 and No. 2 courts. Filippa Ericson and Eduarda Ferreira defeated Nicole Croxton and Tracy Johnson 6-4 at No. 1 doubles followed by a 6-0 win for Carol Sigaki and Vale Zarama over Demi Henschel and Caroline Ferrari on the second doubles court.

Presbyterian responded with wins at No. 5, No. 1, No. 6 and No. 3 singles to clinch the match. Sigaki won her second match of the day at No. 2 singles, 7-5, 4-6, 1-0 (10-6) over Johnson. Zarama also won two matches on the afternoon as she battled back for a 5-7, 6-2, 1-0 (13-11) triumph over Croxton at No. 4 singles.

Upstate hits the road this weekend for a pair of matches. The Spartans will face Campbell on Saturday at noon followed by a Sunday match at UNC Wilmington at noon.
