Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate women's tennis team suffered a 5-2 setback to Lipscomb on Saturday at the USC Upstate Tennis Complex.
Lipscomb improves to 5-13 overall and 1-1 in the ASUN while Upstate drops to 2-15 and 0-2.
"Upstate faced a determined and motivated team in Lipscomb that had some injuries yet fought hard in every match to succeed today and capture the win in singles and doubles," head coach Oliver Trittenwein said. "Congratulations to head coach Jamie Aid and their team."
Lipscomb clinched the doubles point thanks to a 6-0 win on the No. 1 court and a 6-3 victory at the No. 2 position.
Taylor Dodd defeated Thabile Tshatedi 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 singles while Morgan Dodd won at No. 6 singles by default. At No. 3 singles, Vale Zarama lost in three sets 7-5, 5-7, 10-5.
Upstate remains at home, facing Florida Gulf Coast on Thursday at 2 p.m.
