Troy, Ala. – The USC Upstate men's tennis team suffered a 7-0 defeat in non-conference play on Monday afternoon to the Troy Trojans from Lunsford Tennis Complex.

Upstate falls to 3-7 overall while Troy improves to 7-6 on the season.

The Trojans jumped out to a 1-0 lead over the Spartans after winning the doubles point by taking matches at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions. The No. 1 doubles combination of Fernando Bernardes and Ignacio Garrido were tied with Hassan Ndayishimiye and Andre Blado 4-4 before the match went unfinished.

Troy captured all six singles matches over Upstate to earn the victory. The Spartans sent three of the six matches into the third set at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 4.

Playing at No. 1 singles, Felix Ewers fell to Ndayishimiye 4-6, 6-3, 10-5, while Lenhard Haupt dropped a 6-2, 6-7(2), 10-8 decision to Andy Lau at No. 2. Ankush Arora also saw his No. 4 singles match against Mustapha Belcora go into the third set but fell 6-0, 4-6, 6-1.

Upstate travels to South Alabama on Wednesday afternoon for a 2 p.m. match against the Jaguars.
