Mobile, Ala. – USC Upstate sophomore Filippa Ericson recorded her second consecutive singles win but the Spartans were unable to overcome South Alabama in a 6-1 loss on Wednesday at the Bruce David Lubel Memorial Tennis Courts.
South Alabama improves to 11-4 while Upstate drops to 1-12.
Ericson was a 6-2, 2-6, 1-0 (10-6) winner over Laura Valkova at No. 2 singles. Ericson claimed a win at No. 3 singles against Troy on Monday.
South Alabama clinched the doubles point thanks to a 6-0 victory at No. 2 doubles and a 6-1 victory at No. 1 doubles.
All five of South Alabama's singles wins came in two sets.
Upstate returns to action next Wednesday as the Spartans host Western Carolina at 3 p.m.
