Spartanburg, S.C. – The Lipscomb Bisons scored two runs in the ninth inning to break a 3-3 tie as they defeated USC Upstate 5-3 at Harley Park on Saturday.
Lipscomb improves to 16-10 and 2-0 in the ASUN while Upstate drops to 13-17 and 0-2.
Scoring Breakdown
- Bottom 3rd – Drake Harris led off the inning with a single, advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt and scored on a Brett Hawkins double.
- Top 4th – The Bisons took a 2-1 lead on a Hunter Hanks two-out triple.
- Top 5th – Lee Solomon reached on a two-out walk and scored on a Cade Sorrells single.
- Bottom 6th – Upstate tied the game on J.J. Shimko's two-run home run, his first of the season.
- Top 9th – Michael Gigliotti reached on an error to open the inning and scored the go-ahead run on a Zeke Dodson single. The Bisons added an insurance run on a Jake Perry infield single.

- Hawkins went 2-for-5 with a single, double and RBI.
