Spartanburg, S.C. – Elin Hellberg along with the doubles pairing of Noelia Acuna and Gabriela Cevallos advanced to the championship match in their respective flights as the USC Upstate women's tennis team completed the second day of the USC Upstate Invitational.
Hellberg began her day in the Black Singles Consolation bracket with a 6-0, 6-3 victory over Hannah Lehfeldt of Queens and followed that with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Paige Christian of Georgia Southern. Hellberg will face Georgia Southern's Charlotte van Diemen tomorrow at 11 a.m.
Acuna and Cevallos knocked of Daniela Naupari and Paula Romero of Gardner-Webb 7-6 (3) to reach the finals of the doubles consolation bracket. They will face Hannah Lehfeldt and Caroline Nielsen of Queens in the championship match at 10 a.m.
Upstate won four matches on the afternoon as Cevallos claimed a 6-3, 6-4 win over Ana Bolson of Queens in the Green Singles consolation bracket before falling in the semifinals.
Sunday play begins at 10 a.m. with doubles finals followed by singles finals at 11 a.m.
