Elon, N.C. – USC Upstate men's tennis players Felix Ewers and Ignacio Garrido represented the Spartans this weekend at the Elon Fall Invitational hosted by Elon at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.
Ewers competed for Upstate in the Maroon Singles bracket while Garrido was in the Gold Singles bracket. The duo also competed in the Maroon Doubles bracket.
Both players recorded one singles victory as Ewers defeated Freddie McGeehan of East Carolina in three sets 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 to begin tournament play. After dropping his opening match, Garrido topped Vlad Anghel of East Carolina in three sets 6-2, 5-7, 12-10.
The Spartans return to fall competition Sept. 30-Oct. 1 at the Davidson Challenge in Davidson, N.C.
