USC Upstate Falls to Wofford 6-1

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate men's tennis team wrapped up a four-match road trip on Thursday afternoon by dropping a 6-1 non-conference decision to the Wofford Terriers at Reeves Tennis Center.

USC Upstate falls to 1-6 on the season while Wofford improves to 5-1 overall.

The Terriers took a 1-0 lead to begin the match after winning the doubles point following victories at No. 2 and No. 3. The Spartans picked up one doubles win as the No. 1 combination of Fernando Bernardes and Ignacio Garrido defeated Julian Chousa and John Crawford 7-6.

Wofford then won five of the six singles matches to earn the victory. Felix Ewers captured a win in singles competition for USC Upstate in his No. 2 match. The redshirt-junior topped Chousa in straight sets 6-4, 6-3.

Ankush Arora sent his No. 3 singles match against Edu Villar into the third set but fell 4-6, 6-4, 2-6.

The Spartans host Queens and Campbell in a doubleheader on Sunday beginning at 10 a.m. from the USC Upstate Tennis Complex.
