Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate women's tennis team dropped a pair of matches on Sunday afternoon to Queens and Campbell at the USC Upstate Tennis Complex. The Spartans lost both matches by 7-0 scores.
Queens improves to 1-0 and Campbell ups its record to 3-5. USC Upstate is 0-5.
MATCH ONE – Queens 7, USC Upstate 0
The Royals won the doubles point with a 6-0 win at No. 1 doubles and a 6-4 victory at No. 3 doubles. Noelia Acuna and Taylor Dodd were ahead 5-4 in their number two doubles match when it was stopped.
Gabriela Cevallos and Taylor Dodd each went to three sets in their singles matches. Cevallos lost 6-3, 2-6, 10-8 at No. 4 singles to Caroline Nielsen. Dodd dropped a hard-fought 6-3, 6-7 (6), 13-11 match to Hannah Lehfeldt at No. 5 singles.
MATCH TWO – Campbell 7, USC Upstate 0
Campbell won the doubles point and swept all three doubles matches.
Cevallos battled in her No. 4 singles match against Isabel Boada, falling 6-0, 3-6, 15-13.
