Greenville, S.C. – The USC Upstate men's tennis team won the doubles point and one singles match on Wednesday afternoon but the Spartans would fall 5-2 to the Furman Paladins in a non-conference match at Mickel Tennis Center.
USC Upstate falls to 3-11 on the season while Furman improves to 12-4 overall.
The Spartans took an early 1-0 lead over the Paladins after winning the doubles point. After the Paladins won the No. 1 doubles match, USC Upstate came back with victories at No. 2 and No. 3. The No. 2 combination of Ankush Arora and Francisco Neto defeated Ivan Mitric and Drew Singerman 6-4 to even the doubles portion of the match. Luka Eble and Felix Ewers, playing at No. 3, captured the point with a 6-3 triumph over Trevor Croyder and Daniel Vishnick.
Furman came back to win five of the six singles matches to pick up the 5-2 victory. Ignacio Garrido recorded a straight set 6-3, 7-5 win in his No. 6 match against Clarke Wilson.

The Spartans return home on Wednesday, March 21 for a 2 p.m. match against Elon.
