SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The USC Upstate women's soccer team fell 3-0 to Charleston Southern on Wednesday afternoon in front of a crowd of 150 people at Charleston Southern Soccer Field.
The Buccaneers got off to a hot start scoring in the 12
th minute of the game. Lauren McDonald connected with Dakota Fielder for the opening goal of the game. Charleston Southern (5-8-2, 2-4-2 BSC) outshot USC Upstate (2-9-3, 0-7-1 BSC) 8-4 in the opening half and freshman goalkeeper
Haylee Myrup (York, S.C.) made four first half saves in her first career start for the Spartans.
In the second half the game did not get much better as the Buccaneers added a pair of goals in the 72
nd and the 77
th minute of the game. For USC Upstate this was their second consecutive 3-0 loss to a Big South opponent.
Stats of the Game
- USC Upstate was outshot 17-9 overall and 9-1 in shots on goal.
- The Spartans recorded six saves in the match between Myrup and Logan Pace.
- USC Upstate proved to be more physical recording 10 fouls in the match.
- Mia Raiff, Abbie Ellis and Montanna Hill all had a pair of shots to lead the Spartans offense.
