Greenville, S.C. – The USC Upstate men's tennis team returned to action on Saturday morning dropping a 7-0 decision on the road to the Furman Paladins in non-conference play from Mickel Tennis Center.
USC Upstate falls to 1-2 on the season while Furman improves to 3-3 overall.
The Paladins took an early 1-0 lead after sweeping all three doubles matches to secure the point. Furman began doubles play by winning 6-0 at No. 1 before picking up a pair of 6-2 victories at No. 2 and No. 3.
In singles action, the Paladins won all six matches to record the 7-0 victory. The Spartans sent one match into the third set with Luka Eble against Clarke Wilson at No. 3. Eble captured the first set 6-1 before Wilson picked up the following two sets by scores of 6-4, 1-0 (10-3) to win the match.
USC Upstate opens Big South play on Friday afternoon hosting Winthrop in its home opener at 2 p.m.
