Men’s Tennis: Spartans Crush Crusaders

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The USC Upstate men's tennis team improved to 2-0 at the USC Upstate Tennis Complex this season with a 7-0 sweep of North Greenville University on Saturday afternoon.

"It's always tough to play back-to-back days but the guys had really great energy throughout the singles and we were able to take care of business." USC Upstate head tennis coach Tim McLane said, "We've got another one tomorrow against a good Chattanooga team, but our guys will recover and get ready to battle."

USC Upstate (2-5) won the doubles point over the Crusaders with a 6-4 victory at No. 1 singles and a 6-2 win at No. 3 singles. Holding a 1-0 advantage the Spartans never let up as USC Upstate won every singles court in straight sets.

Freshman Leon Roider improved to 5-2 on the season and has now won three straight matches. Roider is now 2-1 at the No. 1 singles flight this season. Senior Fernando Bernardes improved to 2-0 at the No.2 singles court and Luka Eble improved to 2-3 at the No. 3 singles position.
