
Cornfield Named to ASUN Men’s Golf All-Decade Team

ATLANTA, Ga. – The ASUN Conference announced the Men's Golf 2010-2019 All-Decade Team and USC Upstate alum Ryan Cornfield (Dudley, England) earned a spot on the list.

"Ryan was a consistent and high performer no matter the course or competition," USC Upstate head golf coach Todd Lawton said. "To be honored in the ASUN during that time is incredible. So many players that played individually and as a team in NCAA Championships. He is truly deserving of such an accolade and I am proud to have coached him his entire career."

Cornfield played for USC Upstate from 2012-2016 and became one of the greatest golfers in school history. Cornfield is a three-time All-ASUN selection with a first team nod coming in his senior season with the Spartans. The native of England was the first USC Upstate golfer male or female to qualify for an NCAA Regional at the Division I level. Cornfield, produced back-to-back top-25 finishes in the NCAA Regionals and finished in ninth place his senior season.

At the ASUN Championship, Cornfield produced a pair of top-10 finishes with a fourth place finish in the 2016 Championship. A season before, Cornfield carded a 66 in the third round of the 2015 Championship making it the second lowest third-round in tournament history.

Cornfield is one of just three Spartans to ever play in 120-plus career rounds. His 72.87 stroke average is the second best in program history only to Josh Gallman (2006-10). Cornfield recorded the second-best winning percentage in program history at .813 and he holds the program record for lowest round with a 64. Cornfield concluded his career at Upstate with a pair of wins, 10 top-five finishes and 18 top-10 finishes.

To be named to the All-Decade Team an individual must have competed for at least two years in the decade as an ASUN student-athlete. Individuals that obtained one of the following criteria were named to the team; three First Team All-Conference selections, four All-Conference selections or multiple Scholar-Athlete/Player of the Year. Individuals that obtained at least two of the following criteria were also named to the team; Player/Freshman/Scholar-Athlete of the Year/Championship Medalist, three All-Conference selections, two First Team All-Conference selections or three top-10 at ASUN Championship.

USC Upstate was a member of the ASUN Conference from 2007-18. The Spartans joined the Big South Conference on July 1, 2018.
