Series History
Heading into Wednesday's game, USC Upstate and Western Carolina are looking to break a series deadlock in the seventh all-time meeting between the programs in the Spartans' Division I era (2007-pres.). The Spartans and Catamounts have split the series three games apiece with both teams holding a 2-1 advantage on its home floor. Upstate captured the previous meeting between the two programs, winning 70-62 on November 12, 2019.

Players to Watch
Upstate: Shooting 14-of-18 from the field against Mars Hill, junior guard Chellia Watson became the first Spartan since 2019 to score 30 points in a game as Watson's career-high scoring output led a trio of double-figure scorers last Sunday. Behind her 30-point effort—that also featured a team-high five rebounds—against the Lions, she upped her season scoring average to 13.8 points per game, leading the Spartans in the category this season.
 
Western Carolina: Scoring 15 points in each of her past two games, guard Nadia Marshall enters Wednesday's game as Western Carolina's leading scorer, averaging 12.7 points per game. She also leads the Catamounts in rebounding, pulling in 7.0 boards per game for a team that ranks 27^th in the NCAA in rebounding margin, outrebounding opponents by an average of 10.9 rebounds per contest.

Following its game at Western Carolina, USC Upstate returns to the Hodge to kick off a three-game homestand, opening the stretch with UNC Greensboro. The matchup of Spartans takes place Saturday at 2 p.m. ET with the game featuring as the Ingles Nexstar Game of the Week.
