Series History
Opening the 2022 calendar year, USC Upstate and UNC Asheville are meeting for the 17th time in the Spartans' Division I era (2007-pres.). Meeting each year since Upstate moved to D1, except during the 2008-09 season, the Bulldogs lead the series 9-7. Last season, Upstate took both ends of a back-to-back series, winning 62-49 on Feb. 5, and 61-58 on Feb. 6.

Players to Watch
Upstate: Shooting 78.6 percent from the field, including a perfect 7-of-7 from beyond the arc, freshman guard Rachael Rose earned her third Big South Freshman of the Week honor during the week of Dec. 20, equaling the program's total (three seasons) for Big South weekly awards entering the 2021-22 season. She averaged 11.7 points and 4.7 rebounds per game against Jacksonville, Bob Jones, and Morehead State, posting 11 assists to two turnovers, accruing a 5.5 assist to turnover ratio.
 
Asheville: Averaging 17.6 points per game, guard Nadiria Evans enters Saturday's game leading the Big South in scoring. In the Bulldogs Big South opener, she tallied 14 points while adding seven rebounds and eight assists in a 69-60 victory over Radford.
