Series History
Wednesday's meeting between Upstate and UNC Asheville marks the 10^th all-time meeting in the Spartans' Division I era (2007-pres.), meeting on the pitch each season since 2012. The Bulldogs lead the series 7-2-0 with each of the previous two meetings (2019 and 2020-21) heading to double overtime. Upstate's prior victories in the series came in consecutive seasons, winning a pair of 1-0 matches in 2017 and 2018.

Ones to Watch
Upstate: Entering the week, Upstate goalkeeper Cora Brendle leads the Big South Conference in both save percentage (.918) and goals against average (0.72), ranking seventh in the NCAA in the former category. She also carries another top-10 national ranking into Wednesday's match as she ranks 10^th in the country in saves per game, averaging 7.50 stops per contest. Making six saves against Winthrop, Brendle has corralled five or more saves in all six matches this season and nine of the 10 matches in her career.
 
Asheville: With two goals and an assist in 2021, forward Alice Walker enters Wednesday's match leading UNC Asheville in points, tallying five on the season. Against Hampton last Saturday, she scored twice while adding an assist to tally all five of her points in the match as she scored on her two shots on goal attempts.
 
UP Next for the Spartans
After opening the Big South Conference slate with three consecutive road matches, Upstate returns to County University Soccer Stadium for the first of two straight home matches. The Spartans welcome Radford Saturday for a 6 p.m. ET kickoff.
