Series History
Meeting for the first time in two seasons, USC Upstate and Charleston Southern's Saturday matchup marks the eighth all-time meeting between the two programs in Upstate's Division I era (2007-pres.). The Spartans and Buccaneers met twice (2016-17; 2017-18) ahead of Upstate's membership in the Big South before meeting four times in conference play and once in the Big South Tournament. Due to Covid-19, the two programs did not meet last season.

Players to Watch
Upstate: Scoring a career-high 23 points and pulling in 12 rebounds, senior forward Bryson Mozone collected his third career double-double in a 13-point victory over Gardner-Webb Wednesday. His career-high scoring game marked the second 20-plus point scoring outing of his career while also giving him his seventh consecutive double-figure scoring game. On the season, Mozone leads the Spartans in scoring, averaging 14.5 points per game.
 
Charleston So.: Knocking down the shot to break a 65-65 tie against High Point Wednesday night, guard Tahlik Chavez collected his final two of a team-high 17 points to lift Charleston Southern to its first Big South victory of the season. He leads the Buccaneers in scoring, averaging 10.6 points per game while leading his team in assists (36) and steals (22).

Wrapping up its two-game homestand following Saturday's matchup versus Charleston Southern, Upstate returns to the Hodge Wednesday night against Winthrop. The Spartans and Eagles meet for a 6 p.m. ET tip-off with the game airing on ESPN+.
