Cross Country Collects Fourth and Fifth Place Finishes Along with Post Season Honors at Big South Cross Country Championships

FARMVILLE, VA. – USC Upstate cross country had an impressive performance, as both teams finished in the top five overall, Heaven Allen earned All-Conference Second Team honors, and two Spartans were named to the All-Academic Teams.  

The men's team finished 5th of out 10 competing teams. Noah White led the Spartans and cracked a top 15 finish, coming in 15th with a time of 25:48.2. White's time was just shy of earning All-Conference Honors with the top 14 earning a spot. Monroe Thompkins finished just shy of the top 20, finishing 21st but with a new personal best on the season, improving his prior best by almost a minute.

The women finished 4th out of 10 competing teams, recording the highest finish since USC Upstate joined the Big South and tying the highest finish since becoming a Division I program. Heaven Allen led the Spartans and accomplished a top 15 finish, coming in 14th. Allen's time of 18:20.3 was her best performance all season and it earned her a spot on the Big South All-Conference Second Team. Allie Leavitt was not far behind, crossing the finish line 16th with a time of 18:25.3

During the awards ceremony, seniors Jared Keklak and Laura Yarborough were named to the Big South All-Academic Teams for their efforts in the classroom. Keklak maintained a 3.967 GPA, studying computer information systems. Yarborough maintained a 3.811, studying Secondary Education. This is the second consecutive year that Keklak and Yarborough have been named to the Big South All-Academic Teams.
