SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Kicking off the cross-country season, USC Upstate hosted the Eye Opener Friday evening. Both the men's and women's teams finished in the top ten.

Finishing sixth overall, Sam Shimanskiy was the leader on the men's side, posting a time of 26:07.5. Teammate Ian Kelbert followed, posting a time of 26.21.1.
