Tournament Preview
Returning to action after hosting one of the most successful collegiate golf events in the Upstate, USC Upstate men's golf sets its sights on the South Carolina Lowcountry with a trip to the Daniel Island Club to compete in the Daniel Island Collegiate.
 
The 2022-23 season marks the second straight season with an appearance at the Daniel Island Intercollegiate as the Spartans finished 17^th in a strong field last season. Junior Zander Briggs represents the Spartan with experience at the event, tying for 83^rd in last season's stout field.
 
Entering the 2022 Daniel Island Intercollegiate, Briggs also carries momentum as he led all Upstate golfers at The Carolina Cup, tying his best career finish as he turned in scores of 74-78-73-225, tying for 44th at the event. Freshman Elias Becker tied for the second-highest finishing Spartan as he finished one stroke shy of his career-best 54-hole total, coming in at 229 behind round scores of 75-72-82, tying for 55th.
 
Tying with Becker at 55th on The Carolina Cup leaderboard, senior Brady Hinkle fashioned marks of 75-74-80-229 to round out the top-three Upstate finishers at the event. Just behind Becker and Hinkle, freshman Christophe Palmans tied for 58th—third highest among Spartans in the team lineup—as he wrote in scores of 79-78-73-230.
 
The Daniel Island Intercollegiate features three days of play with 18 holes each day. Play begins Sunday with double tee times with the double tee times carrying to Monday's round. The event concludes Tuesday with a shotgun start for the final round.
