Women's Basketball Starts Busy Week With Road Game Against Charleston Southern

Series History 
USC Upstate and Charleston Southern have a series dating all the way back to 1979 when the Spartans first hosted the Bucs and won 70-50. The Spartans lead the overall series 12-6, with a 7-2 record at home, but trail 3-2 in conference play against the Bucs. Upstate first played the Bucs at the end of December to open its Big South Conference slate. During that meeting, Upstate earned its first Big South win of the season as the Spartans downed the Bucs 59-57 at home. Isabella Geraci (12) scored in double-figures while AC Markham earned her first double-double of the season (11 pts., 10 reb.).

Players to Watch 
Upstate: Trinity Johnson had a stellar second half performance against the Bulldogs of UNC Asheville, as she posted 19 total points total with 18 of them coming in the second half alone. Rebekah Gordon also continued to be a solid performer as she had her eighth game of the season scoring in double-figures (13). Gordon also led the team in rebounds with six while AC Markham and Isabella Geraci recorded five each.  

Upstate maintained the lineup of Isabella Geraci, Rebekah Gordon, Trinity Johnson, Jeni Levine, and AC Markham. Geraci and Markham are the only two Spartans to start all 22 contests so far for the Spartans. Geraci leads the team for minutes played (703), three pointers (23), rebounds (160), and steals (37). Gordon helps lead the offense with 213 points, averaging 10.1 points per game and shooting .375% from the field. Geraci also surpassed the 200-point mark for the season as she now has 204 points while Johnson is behind her with 156.  

Charleston Southern: Sha'Mya Leigh came up big for the Bucs against High Point on Saturday as she tied her season-high in scoring with 20 points. Along with her 20 points, Leigh had two rebounds and one assist in her season-high 40 minutes of play. Catherine Alben and Saniya Jones contributed eight points each to 55 points the Bucs scored against the Panthers. Alben leads the Bucs with 230 points, averaging 10.0 points per game,

Upstate will finish the week with back-to-back games against the Eagles of Winthrop with the first game being played Saturday, Feb. 11th in the G.B Hodge Center at 4:00 p.m. and the second being played Sunday, Feb. 12th at 2:00 p.m. in Rock Hill.
