Series History
USC Upstate and Winthrop started their series back in 2008 when the Spartans fell 78-42 in Rock Hill, S.C. The Spartans lead the overall series 7-3 with a 2-1 home record and a 5-2 record on the road. Upstate is riding a three-game winning streak over the Eagles after two wins in the 2021-2022 season (59-47, 73-43) and one win in December of 2020 (56-49). The Spartans and the Eagles were originally scheduled to meet for the first time this season on Dec. 29th; the teams will now play back-to-back games to make up for the missed game.

Players to Watch
Upstate: AC Markham had her best game of the season against Charleston Southern, as she scored a season-high 17 points while Rebekah Gordon had her third consecutive game scoring in double-figures (15). Zora Fry-Chinn and Cali Levine also had solid performances against the Bucs as they scored 10 points each.
Upstate maintained the lineup of Isabella Geraci, Rebekah Gordon, Trinity Johnson, Jeni Levine, and AC Markham. Geraci and Markham are the only two Spartans to start all 23 contests so far for the Spartans. Geraci leads the team for minutes played (726), three pointers (23), rebounds (164), and steals (41). Gordon helps lead the offense with 228 points, averaging 10.4 points per game and shooting .380% from the field. Along with Gordon, Geraci (210), Johnson (165), and Markham (145) all sit with triple digit points on the season.
Winthrop: Paige Powell also had her best game of the season against UNC Asheville, as she scored 23 points, made five rebounds, had three blocks, and had two assists. Powell went 9-11 for field goals and 5-8 for free throws on the day. Jada Ryce (15) and Shamyjha Price (13) also contributed points towards the Eagles' total. Ryce earned her first double-double of the season with the 15 points she scored and the 11 rebounds she made.
